Lasantha Wijesinghe studied medicine at Cambridge University where he graduated with the Lewin Prize in surgery. He subsequently won the Gold Medal of the Association of Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland. He was awarded his MD Thesis from Leeds University and appointed to his post as Consultant Vascular Surgeon in 2002. Mr Wijesinghe has served on the Council of the Vascular Society and is an Examiner for the FRCS and FEBVS examinations. He is also on the Council of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He maintains a full practice as an NHS consultant but also maintains a busy private practice covering the treatment of varicose veins.
Mr Wijesinghe has a strong interest in the training and education of junior doctors, physician’s associates, nurses, and is a Visiting Fellow at Bournemouth University.
In his spare time, he is a volunteer for several organisations, an enthusiastic cricketer, and a fair-weather walker.
