Covid lockdown made London CEO Consultant and Coach seek vein treatment and she hasn’t looked back since.
Jane Houghton from London runs her own company as a Consultant and Coach and unbeknown to most of her friends, had varicose veins since she was a teenager. It was during the covid lockdown that Jane decided it was time to do something about them and approached our London clinic just off Harley Street for help.
“I remember a strange feeling in my left leg and in particular my vein behind my knee felt like it was bulging. Once I became more aware about it, I just couldn’t stop thinking about it. I also noticed that my veins in my right leg were more prominent so felt I should have them examined by an expert.”
Jane was treated by Consultant Interventional Radiologist Dr Sam Stuart, who performed a colour duplex ultrasound scan of both of Jane’s legs so that he could advise what the cause of the vein bulges were and what the course of treatment should be.
Jane underwent EVLA on both legs to treat the underlying cause of her varicose veins, followed by foam and microsclerotherapy to tidy up the visible veins, including a session of these treatments at her follow up.
Prior to treatment, Jane recalls how she never showed her legs and thought that she would always have to wear trousers or long skirts regardless of the weather.
When Jane was asked what her advice to people who are considering getting their legs treated at Veincentre would be she said: “Just do it. The treatment works and gives you so much confidence to know your veins have been treated. It is one of the best things I have ever done. After speaking with the consultant Dr Stuart, who explained the current state of my legs and the treatment involved, I was eager to sign up for treatment. I felt confident it was the right thing to do, and I have never looked back. This summer, I am looking forward to showing my legs, for the first time in a long time.”
When Jane isn’t busy running her own company she enjoys watching her favourite football team Bolton Wanderers, exercising in her local parks, meditating, reading, listening to self-development books and watching documentaries on Gaia.
