David struggled with varicose veins for 20 years, losing sleep and energy. After treatment at Veincentre, he’s finally sleeping well and is excited to enjoy summer in shorts!
David had been dealing with varicose veins for over 20 years, and in the last five, they had started affecting his sleep. His restless legs would keep him up all night, leaving him exhausted during the day. As the veins became more visible, he started feeling increasingly self-conscious, especially when thinking about wearing beach shorts on holiday. He dreaded going to bed, knowing his symptoms would prevent him from getting any rest, and the situation just kept getting worse.
David felt that he wasn’t receiving the help he needed from the NHS, so he did a lot of research and decided to visit Veincentre to see how we could help.
During his consultation, he was immediately put at ease by the team. “The clinic was a lovely environment,” he recalls. “I was welcomed by the receptionist who got me chatting and even brought me a coffee, which helped me feel comfortable from the start.” During David’s consultation, he discussed his concerns with his consultant and had an ultrasound scan to determine the underlying cause of his varicose veins. From there his consultant recommended Endovenous Laser Ablation (EVLA). David described his consultation as ‘brilliant’.
David decided to go ahead with his recommended treatment, and he couldn’t have been happier with the results. “What was lovely during the treatment was how brilliant the team were. They were reassuring and calming, and the whole experience was superb.”
The relief was almost instant. That very night, the twitching in his leg had completely stopped. “The relief was immediate!” David says, thrilled with how quickly he felt better.
Now, David’s veins are nothing like they used to be, and he’s excited to wear shorts in the summer again. “I am so glad I had it done,” he says. “The whole process has been great! The team was calm, professional, and it’s been worth every penny. I wish I had done this 10 years ago.”
For David, being able to sleep through the night has been life-changing. “A good night’s sleep is worth everything.”
His advice to others considering treatment: “Get treatment early. I wish I had done it 10 years ago.”
